A garden with three lives
The Potager was laid out in the seventeenth century as the kitchen garden of the château de Meudon, and bought by Louis XIV in 1679 for the Grand Dauphin. In 1946 the Jesuits established the Saint-Georges boarding school here for Russian émigré children, and built the Byzantine-style chapel that still stands. The town bought the site in 2002.
Today it holds around fifteen craft studios, hosts exhibitions, lectures and classes, and is one of the main venues for Meudon's European Craft Days each April.
